The detached single-family home was built in 1930 according to the design of the architects Theiß and Jaksch, around the same time as the high-rise building on Herrengasse.
It is one of the first single-family homes subsidized by the Vienna housing promotion program that emerged mainly from 1930 onwards.
The building is listed as a monument under the name of its first owner (Urwalek).

The comprehensive renovation of the House Urwalek is planned with the aim of restoring its original appearance while simultaneously transforming the monument into a sustainable and energy-efficient building.
