In recent years, the demand for teaching and learning environments has evolved, and students’ needs have changed. Student spaces should be flexible, interactive, varied, and inspiring environments that promote effective learning and creative exchange. These student spaces should serve as a significant complement to traditional learning environments.
The furniture used came solely from the existing inventory that the university already had in storage. Each element was chosen with environmental considerations and minimizing the ecological footprint in mind.
This is why the frame for a sofa-like landscape is built from unused metal supports from lockers, the seating area from old cabinet doors, and the “upholstery” is a Persian carpet found in university storage. The same principle is applied to all furnishing elements. The bench around a group table is made from cabinet shelves, and a transparent space divider with plants is created from an upcycled plexiglass structure.

Student spaces provide flexible, interactive, varied, and inspiring environment to promote creative exchange und effective learning.

Each of the two innovative spaces offers students a unique environment, supporting future-oriented learning and communication.
